Don’t let perfect get in the way of better!
The entire nutrition and fitness industry is full of people and images depicting ‘perfection’. This is both body image and also behaviours, but especially when it comes to nutrition. We have all seen the images on social media of perfect meals, rows of tubber ware containers with food carefully planned out for the week and fully stocked fridges and presses. This is one the most annoying things about nutrition as it can be very off putting for people and seem so far from reality that it is unachievable for people that are new to the industry. People constantly strive for this perfect lifestyle and behaviours but this is vision of perfection is not always as it seems. Similar to the Instagram models coming out recently revealing the truths behind their flawless pictures and seemingly perfect lives on social media.
This image of ‘perfection’ can stop people ever starting because the end goal seems so far fetched.
People see that and think that it can’t be like that for them as they have such a big change to undertake. The reality is, nobody will ever be perfect. There will always be something or some area that we can improve on so the strive for perfection is an endless task. We don’t need to be robotic about our nutrition to achieve our goals, be healthy and happy. Take it one step at a time and make small positive changes. This is a much more sustainable strategy that will get you to where you need to be. Nobody ever reached their goals immediately so all of the pictures you see have weeks, months, and years of consistent behaviours behind them. Don’t try to be perfect, try to be better. Focus on becoming better each week, month, year and you will reach your goals in no time.
